A new chapter for ilo.so

A new chapter for ilo.so

Hi all!

Recently Twitter announced their new API access levels. Unfortunately, the changes mean I would have to sign up to their new $42,000/month Enterprise plan to keep ilo online with its current feature set ๐Ÿซ

So I had to come up with a new future for ilo and not fold like the many, many Twitter apps that have closed in the past month. I didn't want ilo to face the same fate.

After talking to a number of developers and other Twitter app makers, I realised I had three options for ilo:

  • remove the analytics and continue with the follower database and posting/scheduling capabilities
  • close ilo and migrate customers to a similar tool in the market
  • sell ilo and move it under another app's developer account so it can stay online

I'm happy to announce today that I have been able to do a mixture of the first two options: keep ilo online with a revised feature set and offer to migrate subscriptions to a similar tool with analytics.

Announcing ilo v2

Today is a new dawn for ilo, focussed less on tweet analytics and more focussed on Followers and publishing.

ilo no longer offers its best-in-class Twitter analytics ๐Ÿ˜” Without Enterprise API access, it's not possible to monitor tweets like ilo needs to in order to create its full analytics dashboard, tweet tables and thread analytics.

But it will continue, with its other features:

  • follower database
  • follower and unfollower tracking
  • drafts and scheduling
  • Spaces analytics
  • ilo Reply
  • alerts in DMs
  • plus a new simplified analytics dashboard

You can see the new feature list on the Pricing page.

Here's what's new:

ilo's new revised dashboard contains tweets, your tweet streak and follower growth.

The Follower database add-on is now available to every user by default.

The whole app has also had a facelift. ilo has a new typeface, new page layouts and some performance updates.

And you can continue to post to Twitter from ilo too.

I'm happy ilo can stay online and keep serving its customers, even if it has to be without tweet analytics.

About your analytics data: Your old dashboard and data has not been deleted and ilo will continue generating tweet and thread analytics in the background until API access is cut off. If you want to get a copy of your data, I am willing to build an export feature to get your data in JSON or CSV formats.

Migrate to Typefully

I know these changes may be frustrating to some of you (me included!), which is why I've teamed up with Fabrizio and Francesco at Typefully.

We're partnering up to offer you the choice to easily migrate your subscription from ilo and continue getting ilo-like tweet analytics for your account.

Alongside tweet analytics, Typefully has a thread writer, writing prompts, collaboration tools and cross-posting to LinkedIn. See Typefully's full feature list

Every current ilo customer (subscription or lifetime payment) can get a discount to move your subscription to Typefully.

Just go to ilo.so/typefully/ to see how. Your discount is personalised and based on your current subscription.

Even if you have never been a paid ilo customer you can still get a 20% coupon to Typefully! Just sign up to Typefully and then click this link.

I've tried hard to have a back-up for any users frustrated with the abrupt changes to ilo and hopefully being able to move easily to Typefully is a decent compromise.

(This is a win-win-win arrangement. You get to keep tweet analytics, Typefully gets some new customers and ilo earns a revenue share from everyone who migrates.)

Thank you for being part of ilo! If you have any questions about the changes outlined above, please just reply to this email.

Happy tweeting!
